Summer might be over, but the fun doesn’t stop in Ottawa during the fall! There are plenty of fun events in Ottawa this October that you can enjoy with your family or friends. Here are some of our favourite ones to check out this season.
Calling all UOttawa Alumni and students! It’s your chance to meet up and enjoy a weekend of activities and events at the UOttawa homecoming party this October 4th to 6th. Alumni can reminisce about the past through organized campus tours that will revisit all their favourite university hangouts. Students can talk to alumni to see what their future might hold and everyone can cheer on the football team at the annual Panda Game and pre-game party. There’s a full line up of activities including a number of breakfast and dinner events, along with a homecoming BBQ at Tabaret Hall on Sunday. So don’t miss out!
Whisky Ottawa Festival
On Friday, October 4th, the Alt Hotel will host a series of enchanting master classes by world-famous distilleries and their national brand ambassadors. Then on October 5th, the Canadian War Museum will be taken over for an exciting night of whisky tasting at the Grand Tasting Hall. If Whisky is not your thing, head on over to the Mac My Cheese Fest instead that will feature 15 vendors, live music, eating contests and plenty more at Ottawa City Hall on October 4th through 6th. Don’t wait to get your tickets though, the 2018 show sold out and event organizers expect this year’s tickets to move fast as well.
Speaking of moving fast, get ready to run for your life this October 5th. This real live zombie run will get your heart racing and let you test out your zombie apocalypse skills. On October 5th, head down to the at the Proulx Berry Farm at 4:30 pm and get ready to dash and dodge through a 2.5km corn maze that’s filled with some extremely scary-looking zombies. A perfect way to get you in the Halloween mood.
Looking for fun that the little ones will also enjoy? Rural south Ottawa comes to life every fall for the annual Metcalfe tradition. Entering its 163rd year, the Metcalfe Fair and will offer families all their typical fair favourites as well as a few extras this year. This year’s list of events includes a fun Kidzland Tent, live country music, garden tractor pulls, step dancing and fiddling competition, pro wrestling, classic car and hot rod show, fashion show, and demolition derby to name a few. Events start on Thursday, October 3rd and run all weekend long.

Get your list ready and start it early at the Lansdowne Park on October 12th for one of the last 613 flea events before it winds down for winter.
