5 DIY Home Decor Projects

Being cooped up at home can make the days seem long and dull. But giving yourself some creative projects can be a saving grace during these times, offering a distraction and some very welcomed pick-me-ups. If you’re ready to take on a few DIY home decor projects, here are some fun ideas that you can get started with!

Make a Pendant Light

Pendant lights are incredibly chic and can elevate the look of your kitchen, bedroom or living room instantly. But they’re also pretty pricey to purchase. That’s why making your own is the perfect DIY home decor project to tackle. It’s fun and really simple to do. Plus, you can usually make one with a few basic materials that are lying around your home. With a quick search online, you can find all the instructions you need.

Make Your Own Candles

Candles make any space feel cozy, comforting, and of course, smell amazing. But paying $20 or upwards for one that’s made with toxic chemicals just doesn’t seem right. Instead, just make your own. You can order some soy wax online, add in your favourite essential oils and enjoy some amazing aromatherapy throughout your home that’s cheaper and better for you. You can find all the tutorials you need on YouTube to get started.

Finger Knitting

This crafty activity is so popular right now and it’s not hard to see why. It’s so easy, you don’t need knitting needles or any creative bones in your body to do it. Using jumbo-sized yarn, follow along with tutorials online that will show you how to easily knit by using your fingers, looping the yarn together to create amazing blankets, throws and other items that you can keep for yourself or give to others as a gift.

Kitchen Garden

Want to nurture your ‘green thumb’ while stuck at home? Start a herb garden! You don’t need a yard or much space to do it. Start with some easy growing herbs like basil, parsley, oregano or cilantro. Then, all you’ll need are some planters or pots, good organic potting soil, and seeds which will provide you with instructions on how best to plant them. For a little amount of effort, the benefits can be massive when you have fresh, organic herbs that you can pick and use anytime you need to.

DIY Bath Salts

If you’re lucky enough to have a tub that you can take advantage of, make bath time, even more, relaxing with your own therapeutic bath salts. You can combine your Epsom salts with a few ingredients like essential oils to customize it just how you like it. Once you’ve made your bath salts, place them into few fancy jars and prop them up on your vanity to make your bathroom look and feel like a spa.

During quarantine, keeping busy with creative DIY home decor projects is an excellent way to pass the time, soothe your mind and beautify your home.
