Over the past few years, we’ve seen more and more Ottawa residents choosing to live in the growing and eclectic Stittsville community. Why the sudden flock out to this suburb? Because it has a lot to offer! Learn more about this area and why more people than ever are choosing to call this charming countryside neighbourhood home.

A Wide Variety of Homes to Choose From

If there’s one thing you’ll love about Stittsville, it’s the selection of stunning houses. The architectural beauty and impressive interiors have attracted a number of homeowners to the community in recent years. Whether you’re a young professional, growing family, or an active retiree, Stittsville has a home that’s right for you. Featuring condos, contemporary towns, bungalows, and forever homes, there are plenty of designs to choose from. With all the options available, you’ll never have to leave the community if you outgrow your home or need to downsize. It’s also one of the few areas that has a healthy mix of older homes and new builds.

Attractive Prices

The prices in Stittsville are also very attractive compared to other communities surrounding Ottawa. Here, you can still find homes starting starting at much lower prices than in Central Ottawa, and still overring high-quality designs and are fully equipped with all the latest modern finishings.

A Friendly, Safe Community with a Village Vibe

Another reason why Ottawa residents choose to live in Stittsville is that it’s more than just a neighbourhood—it’s a close-knit community! It may have undergone a development surge, but Stittsville has retained a wholesome, charming rural atmosphere. Considered one of the best places to raise a family, this vibrant area has a small-town feel that is both safe and welcoming.  You’ll instantly love the Stittsville community as soon as you arrive; it’s the perfect blend of safety and comfort in Ottawa! Not only that, but Stittsville is a live and work community. Here you can find plenty of jobs and in surrounding areas as well. And, unlike some parts of Ottawa, there are a number of English language jobs available if you’re not fluent in French.

Exceptional Schools and a Great Location

Stittsville is home to some exceptional elementary and secondary schools that are funded by government and private institutions. This ensures that your children will get to experience a top-rated education that will prepare them with care for their individual futures.  Also, here in Stittsville, you’ll find charming restaurants, cozy cafés, attractions like the Amberwood Golf & Country Club and Valleyview Family Farm, and recreational centres like Goulbourn Recreational Complex. You’ll be within reach of several local grocery stores and shopping malls for convenience. In addition, you’ll love how close the Alexandra Grove Park and Trans Canada Trail are to the community, providing a scenic playground for the entire family.

All the Amenities You Need

It’s not easy finding a beautiful, suburban community that has all the amenities you need. But Stittsville has managed to offer the best of both worlds. With several shops, restaurants, and services spread across the community—and more within reach in Kanata and downtown Ottawa—you never have to go far to find what you need. Stittsville has a number of good schools (as mentioned earlier), beautiful green spaces and parks, dining and entertainment options, and accessible public transit. If you’re looking for a great place to call home, Stittsville is worth a visit.

Accessible Public Transportation

Knowing how you’ll be getting to work, school, or other amenities is a huge concern when you’re moving to a new area. While Ottawa is built with cars in mind, that doesn’t mean this mode of transportation is your only option! Stittsville is connected to downtown Ottawa and Kanata by bus and through convenient bike paths, so you can turn your daily commute into a moment to appreciate nature during the long summer days.  Rapid transit through the 61 line will connect you to downtown Ottawa quickly and conveniently, but there’s also a lot of parking even in the downtown core, giving you options when you’re planning your day—or night—out.

A Rich History

Stittsville has some iconic landmarks that reach all the way back to its roots in the 1800s. The Grist Mill has now been restored and is a museum to learn about the village’s long history, and the pre-Confederation Coyle House also gives a glimpse into how early residents lived.  It’s worth noting that Stittsville is somewhat of a new addition to Ottawa. Declared a village in 1961 and incorporated into the city in 2001, it now boasts a population of over 25,000 and a bustling, continuously growing community. While it’s technically a suburb, the village feel has never really left this area.

Thriving Local Culture

If you’re looking for community events, Stittsville’s Village Association organizes festivals all year round, including the Stittsville Fall Fair, which brings the residents together and even attracts people from other Ottawa neighbourhoods. It has active service clubs, such as the Kinsmen and Lions Clubs, giving you ample opportunity to volunteer within your community. There are also a variety of local restaurants that feature live music nights, adding entertainment to your night-out dining experience. There’s the upscale Next and Napoli’s Cafe for special occasions, and the casual Original Souvlaki and Bonita’s Cantina, perfect for a family meal with reasonable prices. There’s a variety of restaurants with global cuisine, along with coffee shops and bakeries for those morning coffee runs or sweet treats at the end of a long day. Stittsville also boasts a few entertainment venues, allowing you to have fun with new friends or the whole family.

Take a Step Into Nature

Stittsville is home to plenty of charm, but for nature lovers, it ensure ample opportunities to spend outside, even in the cold Ottawa winters.
  • Millenium Park has plenty of walking trails
