15 Mar What to Do for March Break 2019 in Ottawa
March break is just around the corner which means it’s time to start planning what to do during this break! Here’s a rundown of our favourite Ottawa activities to keep the kids busy, active, and their minds sharp throughout the break.
Try An Escape Room
If your kids love to solve clues and puzzles, an escape room is the perfect afternoon activity to enjoy! At the Escape Manor you can find the Escape Manor Junior option which offers 4 unique themed rooms for kids aged six to twelve. This provides 45 minutes of gameplay for up to 8 players. Your kids can choose from saving the wizarding world, escaping an alien planet, saving the world from an enemy, or busting out of a candy store. Sounds like a great time to us!
Do your kids love a good fright? The Haunted Walk of Ottawa offers year-round tours of the Carleton County Jail that gives an up close and personal look at the haunted cellblocks. Explore the jail’s incredible history, walk the steps to Death Row, and see where inmates were once imprisoned in the gallows. It’s sure to raise the hairs on your neck!
Get In Touch With Nature
A trip to Little Ray’s Nature Centre is definitely a must. This interactive and educational animal museum showcases a number of exciting themed exhibits and presentations. Your kids will love learning and interacting directly with all the zoo animals. There is everything here to have a fun and fascinating day – from live-animal exhibits, to live animal educational programming, to intriguing exhibits, and professional zookeepers who can answer any questions.
Head to the Space Museum
Visit the Canada Aviation and Space Museum over the March break and learn all about the different careers in the aviation and space industry. During March Break, the “Your Place in Space” exhibit will be taking place. Each day from March 2nd to the 17th, kids will get to see one of the behind-the-scenes jobs in the aviation and space industry. They’ll also get to take part in a number of demonstrations, tours and self-guided activities.
Hit The Hills
Another awesome way to enjoy March Break is to visit Camp Fortune for their Spring Break Lessons. These 3- or 4-day programs provide two-hour lessons along with open skiing for ages 4 and up or full day programs for ages 7 and up. Just be sure to book online in advance to reserve your space – this is a very popular program!
Ottawa is a city of adventure all year round. There’s so much to do and see over the spring break, and now’s the time to start planning! If you are interested in moving to one of Ottawa’s lively neighbourhoods, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
