Southpointe is a newer community in Barrhaven, bordered on the north by Fallowfield Road and the VIA rail line, on the south by Strandherd Drive and on the East by Merivale Road. The Southpointe Community Association, known as the SCA, is very active and dedicated to organizing events, forums, activities, newcomer’s welcomes, and outings to enrich the lives of all residents. Southpointe is served by the outstanding Ottawa-Carleton Public Schools of Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School, John McCrae Secondary School and New Berrigan School. The Catholic School choices include: Monsignor Paul Baxter Catholic School, St. Andrews, St. Luke Catholic School, St. Joseph High School, and Mother Teresa High School. There is also one French school, Pierre Elliot Trudeau Elementary that serves through 7th grade.
GETTING AROUND OTTAWA
As we all focus on doing our part to be more environmentally responsible, you will be happy to learn that Southpointe offers numerous Public Transit routes, with 71, 73 and 77 that go all the way downtown and end at Hurdman Station, and 119, 170, 173, 176, 181, and 186 all provide service directly to the Southpointe Community and provide excellent bus access to Barrhaven shopping, dining and entertainment locations, such as the Market Place mall, the Barrhaven Mall, and the Walter Baker Sports Centre. Route 95 also serves the Fallowfield Transit Station for quick trips to downtown.
