19 Feb Canada Post Makes Changes
Ottawa to Get New Mailboxes
There are many changes going on with Canada Post, from how we’re going to be receiving our mail to how much we’re going to be paying for stamps, according to a recent article I was reading.
Evidently, Canada Post recently announced some changes that will be taking affect this month. If you’re a current resident, you’ll definitely want to check out today’s blog for helpful and useful information!
Canada Post Announced New Changes
According to the article I was reading, Canada Post recently changed the way that roughly five million homes will get their mail.
Starting in the next few weeks, mail will be switched from door-to-door to community mailboxes. This is all a part of an effort to phase out home deliveries.
These new mailboxes will also have a brand new design that will make it easier to accept parcels and boxes. They will also look different to help set them apart from the old boxes.
What’s more, the Post said it plans to eliminate 6,000 to 8,000 jobs. It will also raise the price of stamps.
These changes are coming in part because a 2013 Conference Board of Canada study found that Canada Post was set to lose $1 billion annually by 2020 unless it made major changes to its operations.
