Upcoming Ottawa Events for August

Can you believe August is already here? Don’t let the warm summer months pass you by – get out there and enjoy what the Ottawa area has to offer! Whether you’re heading out on the backroads to visit a country fair or spending your weekends sipping on a patio in downtown Ottawa, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s explore events scheduled during the month of August:


No matter your musical taste, there’s a concert that’s up your alley this month. Cross the river to Gatineau for the Gatineau Country Festival from August 5th to 9th. If you’re still craving more country, drive down to nearby Havelock for the Country Jamboree from August 13th to 16th, featuring Big and Rich and Tanya Tucker. The festival fun continues at the Calabogie Blues and Ribfest from August 14th to 16th. Finally, you can head to Canadian Tire Centre for a trio of big name headliners: pop star Ariana Grande on August 7th, country singer Kenny Chesney on August 19th, and hard rock band Mötley Crüe on August 23rd.


Ottawa has a vibrant cultural scene, and it’s certainly on display during the month of August. From August 7th to 9th, visit Marion Dewar Plaza in downtown Ottawa for the Festival of India, with music, dance, and traditional cuisine. Head to Mooney’s Bay on August 8th for Jam Day 2015, a celebration of Jamaican culture. Next up is Ottawa Greek Fest. From August 13th to 23rd, you can learn the Greek language, indulge in traditional cuisine, practice Hellenic dance, and watch the Zorba show! Finally, we have the South Asian Fest on August 14th and 15th. This family-friendly event features cultural performances, rides, games, and so much more.


What better way to kick off the month than with the Ottawa Street Eats Festival on August 1st at the Aviation Museum? Not only can you sample food from many local food trucks, you can enjoy live entertainment. Next comes Taco Fest at the Shaw Centre on August 8th, which must be as tasty as the name implies. Then it’s the 15th Annual Garlic Festival at the Carp Farmer’s Market on August 8th and 9th. Are you a fan of cheese curds and poutine? Then you don’t want to miss Le Festival de la Curd in St. Albert, Ontario from August 12th to 16th. We’re not done yet – Food Lovers’ Field Days is an outdoor market with food, beer, and wine, in Upper Canada Village on August 15th and 16th. Finally, we wrap up the month with the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival at Lansdowne Park.

Festivals & Fairs

One of the great things about the Ottawa area is that it’s a bustling city surrounded by friendly towns. Visiting the summer fairs in the Ottawa area is a great way to connect with the community! The Navan Fair runs from August 6th to 9th, Winchester Dairyfest is August 7th to 9th, and the Vankleek Hill Fair happens between August 13th and 16th. The fun continues at the South Mountain Fair from August 13th to 16th, the Capital Fair between August 21st to 30th, and the Chesterville Fair from August 28th to 30th. Great food, live entertainment, rides, games, horse shows, tractor pulls, demolition derbies…and much more.
