Townhome Development planned for Ottawa Real Estate Market

Last updated on May 11th, 2021 at 01:11 pm

Ottawa ConstructionRecently, I told you about a decrease in new construction home and condo sales on the Ottawa real estate market.

Well, I recently heard about a new development coming to the area that could reverse that trend!

Evidently, developers recently petitioned the city to be able to build a 12-unit townhome development to replace single homes in Orleans.

What You Should Know About This Development

According to the recent article I was reading, Attollo Homes wants to replace a single-detached home at 1590 Belcourt Boulevard with 12 semi-detached units.

Two of these units would front Belcourt while the rest would sit arranged along a private roadway toward the back of the property.

In order to be able to do this, the developer must get a zoning amendment.

Still, this project has a long way to go before it’s developed. After all, some residents nearby are concerned about the density of the project.

But planners say the proposed development will help the city to increase its housing diversity.

In fact, city planners support the proposal.
