Developer Planning Ottawa’s Tallest Tower
It sure is an exciting time to be a resident of our beautiful city of Ottawa. After all, a developer recently announced plans to build the city’s tallest tower.
This is an exciting new development and one that every resident should be aware of so continue reading to learn more!
More Information on This New Development
According to the recent article I was reading, a developer wants to contstruct a 55-storey condominium tower that would be known as the Richcraft.
This tower would soar high above Dow’s Lake as well as nearby Little Italy and would form one part of the trio of new high-rise buildings in the community.
Located at 845 Carling Ave., the tower would be more than 30 meters taller than the highest building in Ottawa right now, which is one of the Place de Ville towers on Albert Street.
Meanwhile, the other two towers within the Richcraft complex would be 45 storeys and 18 storeys tall.
This new development, which was designed by Toronto-based architects Graziani and Corazza, would feature a total of 1,120 units and ground floor commercial space.
It would also feature a large plaza area that would be publicly accessible
Evidently, in exchange for building such a tall community, the city would receive nearly $3.4 million from the developer for “community benefits.”
Those benefits could include money to redesign parts of the nearby Adeline and Sidney streets, bury hydro lines or even incorporate access to the O-Train Station at Carling.
In its recommendation to approve the application, the planning department says the proposal is appropriate for the broad policies of the city’s Official Plan.
