Quality of Life Just Got Even Better in Downtown Ottawa

Last updated on May 11th, 2021 at 01:11 pm

Ottawa ConstructionFrom excellent schools to well-maintained public parks, gorgeous homes to fun and family-friendly community events – Ottawa sure does have a lot to offer to the people who live here.

And thanks to a recent downtown development, the quality of life in our capital city is about to get even better!

According to a recent article I was reading, there is a new landmark office tower that just opened in downtown Ottawa. Thanks to a deal with the city, this office tower is expected to deliver public spaces as well as cultural amenities to the community.

More Information that You Should Know On This Development

Known as Performance Court, this Class-A, 21-storey building was developed by Morguard Corp and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.

This contemporary building was constructed on city-owned land at 150 Elgin St., which is within the city’s business district.

The LEED Gold Standard building is comprised of a total of 360,000 square feet and is already nearly 90 per cent leased to an array of companies. These include the Canada Council for the Arts and the accounting firm KPMG.

General speaking, the office floor size in this building varies from 16,000 to 25,000 square feet.

The building officially opened June 18, although some tenants took occupancy earlier in 2014.

How About The Building Features Available for Public Use?

The $162-million project also comes with such fabulous features as:

  • A seventh floor public terrace with gorgeous views of the city
  • A pocket park
  • An art gallery
  • A 140-year-old heritage structure

What does this mean for residents? They’re going to have even more options on what to do throughout the week and over the weekend in their spare time!

For instance, the seventh floor terrace overlooks such landmarks as Ottawa City Hall and Confederation Square. And the 3,000-square-foot art gallery will display curated exhibitions of contemporary artwork from the Canada Council Art Bank.

Truly, this entire development is a remarkable addition to the Ottawa downtown scene and will certainly be quite an asset for current and future city residents.
