4 Things You and Your Family Must Check Out This Month in Ottawa

Last updated on May 11th, 2021 at 01:11 pm

Ottawa FamiliesThere’s certainly never a dull moment when you call Ottawa your permanent home. After all, there is always a fun activity going on – whether it’s a sporting event or a new gallery exhibit, a community event or a new restaurant opening.

And there’s nothing we love more than helping new residents discover all that this city really does have to offer.

That’s why each month, we like to share with you some of the community events going on in the area. If you get a chance to check out one of these events, we would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Make Sure You Don’t Miss These Upcoming Events!

On August 4th, come check out the beautiful music of Sylvain Dominc, presented by Les Brasseurs du Temps. Afterward, patrons can even meet with this impressive songwriter-composer-interpreter. This bilingual event will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 at Les Brasseurs du Temps, 170 Montcalm St. in Gatineau. Ticket prices are $10. For more information, call
819 205-4999 ext. 1

And now through August 10, you and your family can check out a new gallery exhibit by Anna Torma, presented by the City of Ottawa’s Public Art Program. The name of the exhibit, Bagatelles, is quite apropos, as the exhibit explores the bagatelles (or seemingly mundane objects in our lives that actually reveal a lot about our imagination) in our lives. This free exhibit will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Karsh-Masson Gallery, 110 Laurier Avenue West in Ottawa.
Prefer the performing arts? Then check out the Torchlight Shakespeare Festival as they present “As You Like It.” The Company of Fools will bring this play to life all summer long across Ottawa. And even better, this family-friendly show is Pay What You Can. This performance will be held now through Aug. 16 at parks throughout Ottawa. For more information, email [email protected]

If you still haven’t gotten your art exhibit fix yet, make sure to check out a new exhibit by Collectif Recycl’Art at the Galerie Montcalm, 25 Lauriere Street in Gatineau. This exhibit uses material recovered from industrial waste to morph them into creative masterpieces. It will be on display now through August 17 and is free to the public. Call 819 595-7488 for more information.
